Wii Forecast Channel now available + Wii Opera confirmed free and available on December 22 (not 23)

Wii OperaWell, the trial version, at the very least. The article title alone says it all, and just to reiterate, you’d be able to surf the internet from your Wii in just a matter of days (December 22) with the free trial version of the Wii’s Opera Web browser. Downloading the browser will activate the Internet Channel on the menu and off you go surfing.

As for the final version, it’s going to be available at the end of March and will be free for all Wii users to download through the end of June. After June, it’ll be available for download in the Wii Shop Channel for 500 Wii Points.

This new Internet Channel will allow you to surf the web with, not a mouse, but your Wiimote. It’ll work pretty much the same way as a mouse pointer.

On a side note and as another update, the Wii Forecast Channel will be up and running, not on the 20th, but a day earlier (today, December 19)! The said channel, provided by Weathernews, will allow you to check out some weather info anywhere in the world using a 3D globe. If it’s going to be this easy to check for weather updates now, this’ll probably give those weather men a run for their money…

Notch in your calendars, guys! The Wii Channels are growing steadily and soon enough our menus would be fully decked with more services from Nintendo.
