Wii gets keyboard functionality

Keyboard functionality has finally been added to the Nintendo Wii video game console. This confirmation comes after reports of the Wii team considering the addition of a keyboard peripheral surfaced.

Support for USB keyboards was included in the latest firmware for the Wii. According to IGN, Wii owners can use USB keyboards within the Wii Shop Channel to enter game titles in the search box. It can also be used to write memos and mail on the Wii Message Board.

For now, keyboards can’t be used in the Internet Channel. This feature is expected to be added within the next few firmware updates.
