But if you’re attempting to place a pre-order for the Wii on Amazon UK and seven minutes is all you’ve got, then you’re most definitely gonna need a whole lot of luck.
This doesn’t happen often, in fact. Usually, you’d expect a pre-order window to stay at least over ten minutes. But what happened this morning was this. Amazon had to open the pre-order doors until past 9:30 because of the sheer amount of people attempting to get in. And when they did open the windows, it only took seven minutes for them to get everything right down to pat.
So if you were one of those countless other hopefuls who spent that exact seven minutes in the johns, we feel for you. Really.
Says Amazon UK‘s console and videogames manager James Schall, “We expected a high number of people to visit the site today but the response was phenomenal.”
Phenomenal, indeed. In seven minutes, Wii pre-orders took the throne previously held by Harry Potter and Coldplay’s X&Y album as the fastest selling item in the online retailer’s history.
