The Wii Shop and IOS51 Installer has been released (with two different builds to boot), which means you will be able to use the Wii Shop Channel even without updating to the homebrew-unfriendly firmware update.
Good news for Wiibrewers to say the least. Both have even been recommended by Marcan of Team Twiizers as an alternative to firmware updating.
The available builds come from developers Muzer and tona. As the name gives away, the app installs the Wii Shop Channel and the new IOS51.
There’s a huge note in bold CAPS in the program’s Wiibrew page, just so you know how important it is: “take out any GameCube Memory Cards/ Controllers and USB devices before installing anything.” For tona‘s build, run the single included DOL to install. For Muzer‘s, load one file, then the other. Doesn’t matter which comes first.
