Wii, Where’s the DVD?

Wii DVDWe don’t know if it’s just plain paranoia. We don’t even know if it matter that much to you. However, we came across this certain article that can’t help but notice the apparent lack of mention of the DVD-capabilities of Wii.

We were thinking and remembered that Nintendo mentioned it at the beginning though. Then there was a rumor about an add-on external DVD player. But now, they don’t talk about it anymore. They just don’t. Anymore.

Speculations were strengthened after Nintendo of America (NOA) quickly responded to an email sent by the article’s author to Nintendo Minute regarding the concern. The response though was: “NOA would not respond to the question.” This is rather unusual as the elites of NOA (read: President and Chief Operating Officer Reggie Fils-Aime; VP of Corporate Affairs Perrin Kaplan; and VP of Marketing and Corporate Communications George Harrison) usually answer relevant questions.

It will be remembered that Nintendo came up with an official list of specs last year. And it specifically says, “Owners will have the option of equipping a small, self-contained attachment to play movies and other DVD content. One year after, they came up with a new list without any mention of it whatsoever.

The matter hasn’t been looked at thoroughly as of the moment and as such, these are just mere observations by the article. We do not, in any way, confirm or deny this. Its just that it got us thinking as well, and we thought, why not aks our readers?

So, we encourage everyone to take a look around regarding Wii and DVD. Tell us what really is the deal between the two and maybe we can all shed light into this matter.
