It’s long been known that Wing Commander Arena will be heading to the Xbox Live Arcade, however, the big question was when. Xbox Fanboy has confirmed with publisher Electronic Arts that the game will be arriving on July 25 and can be purchased for 800 Microsoft points.

Regardless, if you’re too young to remember the Wing Commander series on the PC you should give this game a try. Just imagine having a dogfight in space with 15 other players. Yup, that’s right, this is the first XBLA game to have 16 player online matches. Aside from this, the game has a pretty impressive list of features that might interest you:

  • Form your squad then hunt down and destroy enemy armadas
  • Four game modes: single player, plus multiplayer Team, Free for All, and Duel
  • Eight game maps set in the outer reaches of space
  • Track your progress as you climb single- and multiplayer leaderboards
  • Blast away and earn new Xbox Live achievements

Be sure to check out your consoles on July 25 when this game comes out, because it looks to be a blast. More XBLA updates as we get them.
