World Cyber Games US Open
The Top Gamers Battle at the 2006 Championship Series of the World Cyber Games US Open has already begun, and its first stop is Los Angeles. This event brings together amateur gamers, hard core enthusiasts and the best video game players and PC gamers.
In the WCG US Open, professional gamers are given the opportunity to gain top seeding, automatic berths and a free trip to the WCG USA National Final this September as they compete against each other. Those who win the WCG USA National Final will be flown off the grand finals in Monza, Italy in October to grab the overall WCG Grand Champion title.
Players are also encouraged to sign up onsite to play promotional Xbox 360 titles like Halo 2, Major League Baseball 2K6 and Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved.
Gamers who are taking part in this US leg of this tournament in Los Angeles are a few members of Team USA – Matija “Taf_Jevrej” Biljeskovic, James “NefariousSage” Clifford, Matthew “mTwWizard)” Anderson and Kamran “omegaelite” Siddiqui.
The official WCG titles for this year include the following PC titles: Warcraft III: Frozen Throne, Counter-Strike 1.6, FIFA 06, Need For Speed: Most Wanted, Warhammer 40,000: Winter Assault, and Starcraft: Brood War. The official Xbox 360 titles are Dead or Alive 4 and Project Gotham Racing 3.
