World of Warcraft: in-game VoIP details

Details on the implementation of in-game VoIP in World of Warcraft - Image 1

Some players in World of Warcraft have been asking for details about the in-game VoIP that Blizzard will be implementing soon. The usual questions came up, such as the cost and the quality of the service. Unlike before, when all the CMs weren’t at liberty to share details on it, Nethaera came out and gave a few tidbits of information on it.

She said that an FAQ is due fairly soon. In addition to this, it will also be added to the Test Realm very soon which will be a really good place to test it in. So far, things are looking good after the Blizzard internal testing team reported the sound quality to be clear and solid – which is very important for those looking to use this to coordinate attacks. The big news though is that this service will be free, so you won’t be paying extra to use it.

Some players have been very supportive of this while others still plan on using Ventrilo and xFire for their in-game chat. When this service goes live, we’ll probably be hearing more about this and the disadvantages as well as advantages the in-game VoIP has over other third party programs.
