WoW: A newbie’s multiplayer primer on Shamans

Introducing the Draenei Shaman of the Alliance - Image 1All shammy-wannabes might want to take a look at WoW Insider’s guide, which focuses on the World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade‘s Shaman. And despite the previous negative outlook on Draenei Shamans, the guide still took time to focus on them.

Now this is really for new players who already have started out as a Shaman but aren’t confident of their support skills for groups they join.

Shamans are support casters that are not significantly impressive with melee, magic, healing, or tanking. They provide support for casters and melee characters alike and the blessings also stack. That said, when up against another team in the Arena (which is coming near), they’re your next, next best friend – beside healing and your trusty blade.

The guide tackles on group tactics, as the shaman is most useful with many allies. The first part of the guide reveals the support tactics for group raids. Things that are covered include:

  • The types of Shaman and who the types of Shaman are most potential to be with.
  • A special mana trick that two shammies and a Paladin healer can attempt with the Paladin’s heal.
  • Divided and tight combat scenarios, where you have to decide what totems you drop, without risking the threat of drawing more (or unwanted) attention to the group.
