XBLA and Game Room classics are two separate things

gameroomAs you may know, Microsoft’s CES-announced Xbox Game Room is an online lounge where Avatars come on in and play arcade classics. Xbox Live Arcade, on the other hand, already has arcade classics available for download. But if you thought that you can play your XBLA-purchased games on the Game Room, you’re dead wrong.

I repeat – your XBLA games will not be playable on the Game Room. If you want to play them again over there, you’ll have to *sigh* pay for them again. According to a Microsoft rep contacted by GameInformer, the Game Room titles are to retain their original versions. The ones in XBLA, on the other hand, are “revamped.”

Wouldn’t make much sense to buy a game again just to play it on the Game Room. If you really want to try the new lounge, just get one that you don’t already have.
