Xbox 360 chokes on “Heroes” HD-DVD

Heroes - Image 1A blogger was playing an HD-DVD copy of the much-acclaimed series “Heroes” with his HD-DVD drive for the Xbox 360, when something a bit troublesome happened. Jason Dunn’s Xbox 360 locked up, and none of the basic troubleshooting steps that he used worked in fixing the problem.

The Xbox 360 worked fine the first time Dunn played the Heroes HD-DVD disc, and he managed to watch four episodes without a hitch. However, when he loaded Disc Two of Heroes the next evening, the HD-DVD was stuck on the red-and-black screen that said “LOADING”.

The screen was still there even after waiting for a minute. Dunn decided to reboot, confident that it will fix the problem (as with most other electronic devices), but the Xbox 360 was still stuck in the LOADING screen every time he tried to boot up the “Heroes” disc.

The Xbox 360 console itself was fine. It was able to do everything that it was supposed to do: logging into Xbox Live, play games…all except for playing the HD-DVD of “Heroes”. Other troubleshooting steps were done, including unplugging both the HD-DVD drive and the Xbox 360, as well as deleting all video resume points from the Xbox control panel. Nothing worked, though.

It’s quite the frustrating experience especially if it hinders one from watching their favorite shows. But hey, at least its not the Ring of Death.
