Xbox 360 Controller Comparison and Videos

One of our very lucky members, Beemer99Man, has received a wired version of the Xbox 360 controller (very early.) He has made a great comparative description between the Xbox S controller and the new 360 model, as well as three quicktime formatted videos of the controller. Here are his remarks on the new Xbox 360 controller: “

Just got my wired 360 controller in the mail.  Finally a controller that feels absolutely great.  Overall it is about the same size as the S controller but if feels much smaller and thinner in the hands.  The controller is much lighter but does not feel cheap.  Everything on it feels very solid and built to last.

The Thumbsticks feel nearly identical to the S in just about every way as do the ABXY face buttons.  The 360 button in the middle has a very similar action as the ABXY buttons when pressed.  The triggers feel a little thinner and have slightly less tension on them.  With the S controller your index fingers feel slightly cramped and isolated sitting behind the controller, but with the 360 controller your index fingers naturally sit just behind the bumpers and right on top of the triggers.

Since the memory card slots have been removed the controller has a much more open feeling and no cramping at all.  The grips are slightly thinner than the S and are angled farther out making it very comfortable and ergonomic to hold.  On the S you feel almost as if your hands are tilted forward to hold the grip and get the trigger, but with the new controller they feel much more relaxed.  The start and back buttons have a very soft, rubbery action to them though the buttons themselves are plastic.

When I plugged the controller into the PC the ring of light lit up then nothing happened.  Needs the drivers which arenÂ’t out yet to work with the pc.  I think MS has done a great job with this controller.

Can’t wait til Nov. 22nd.”

Thanks a ton to Beemer99Man for this description and video, you very lucky man.
