Today’s Microsoft Open House event in New York City yielded a “middle-towards-end of October” release for the update’s public beta. The beta will include most of the features that Microsoft sketched out during their E3 conference earlier this year.

MTV Multiplayer mentions that beta invites will be sent out, although Microsoft has yet to provide specific details.
