Xbox 360’s 1080p don’t play on Sony’s TVs?

Some people are really pissed. So they buy Microsoft‘s Xbox 360, gets a 1080p upgrade, plug it into their XBR2 or XBR3 TV line of Sony, only to see on the TV display, “Invalid Signal–Check Your PC Output”. Well, that’s really a downer.

But more than the disappointment of these consumers, the more important implication of this scenario is that the 1080p upgrade for the Xbox 360 seems to block out compatibility with the said TVs from Sony. Oh, but that’s such a nasty thought. There’s got to be some explanation why this booboo happened. But according to the angry Kotaku letter-sender, he’s tested other sets like Samsung’s and Sharp’s, and they displayed the 360 in 1080p without any issues at all.

So, some folks can’t help but let their minds wander: could this be a deliberate move on Microsoft, or could this just be a slip-up (if that’s the case, it’s a really big one at that) from MS? We don’t know the answers to that. But maybe we’d hear from MS soon about this. For now, it’s just a rumor. A nasty one.

Keep it posted here for more updates. Oh, and if your TV goes 1080p, maybe you could do some investigating yourself.
