Yair Landau’s DICE Keynote speech: Vista, spy game

Yair Landau - Image 1As previously reported, Sony Pictures Entertainment”>Yair Landau gave the DICE keynote speech for Sony this year. He’s the president of Sony Digital Pictures and vice chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment. The speech’s theme? Convergence.

He discussed the connection between the gaming and movie industries (read: marketing hype). After showing some clips of Ghost Rider – Kotaku noted that Landau mistakenly referred to it as Ghostbusters – he pointed out the thin line that separates the experience that movies and games provide.

He also cited Saving Private Ryan’s appeal having a direct influence on games like Call of Duty and Medal of Honor. Showing a clip of 007’s latest outing, Casino Royale, Landau showed something interesting. It’s a footage from a game currently in the works – codenamed “Vista“.

The clip featured two agents, male and female – wearing the typical cliche spy wear. Tux and sexy cocktail dress. The dreadlocked mystery person – possibly the villain – makes a short appearance for maximum dramatic effect.

It seems that we have another spy action game to watch out for, though visions of Mr. and Mrs. Smith and True Lies keep popping out of nowhere.
