Michael Pachter predictions for 2007
With the giants of the gaming industry still waging the console wars, we’re left to wonder who’s going to come out as the victor. Sales would be a definite yardstick for this and predictions about 2007 are cropping up everywhere.
And here’s one of them. Michael Pachter predicts fairly modest growth for the games industry. He didn’t get that prediction from staring at a crystal ball though. Michael Pachter is an analyst for Wedbush Morgan Securities.
Pachter said that sales for the PS3 and Wii would be strong as the supply issues are being attended to. The PS3’s and Xbox360’s sales would be slow because of steep prices. Though he ventures that as soon as high definition monitors start invading the majority of households, the PS3’s and Xbox360’s sales will start to pick up. As a result, software sales would pick up as well.
Pachter also has faith in Electronic Arts as he predicted that the publishing giant would “likely meet or modestly beat” its sales targets.
We’ll just have to wait and see if these predictions would come true, as sure as fanboys continue to cheer their respective consoles on.
