Roughly translated: secrets of the swords in Dragon Quest Swords

Really putting emphasis on the primary weapon in the game, Square Enix seems to have embedded special features within the weapons in Dragon Quest Swords: The Mask Queen and the Tower of Mirrors that the player can wield. Aside from being able to purchase or pick up weapons, players can also look forward to upgrading their current weapon in local Weapon Shops.

But that’s not all. According to a sneak peek investigation by Famitsu, the sword doesn’t just get stronger – the sword itself changes with every upgrade. In fact, one bronze sword could easily be upgraded to a steel sword, as shown below.

Amazingly, some of the swords that can deliver an area of effect attack with each slash often can be gained through the upgrading process. Forgive us if our Japanese fails us for this time, but the game might be suggesting that upgraded swords come with their former inherent capabilities – that or the realization of a “mortal sword” that allows the weapon to accumulate power.

So if a sword gets upgraded further, it still keeps what abilities it had before – only now it’s a lot stronger. And with strength and multiple enemy blasts, your trip out of town would be a lot less troublesome and a whole lot breezy. Now we wonder if the shields could get upgraded too…
