Doug Creutz with Cowen and Company believe, through their research note that Call of Duty: World at War (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, DS) will sell 5.5 million copies during its lifetime in the US. Good news or bad? Apparently, this is a 32.4% year-on-year decline from Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare (PS3, Xbox 360, PC). In 2007, Modern Warfare sold over 7 million units worldwide and earned a formidable 88 rating on Metacritic.

Despite having big shoes to fill, World at War will have a lot to be glad about. “Given the strong ratings and demand indicators, we think World at War could deliver meaningful upside to our current statements,” Creutz added. “Our independent channel checks confirm high demand for the game.” In fact, World at War was tied with Guitar Hero: World Tour at #1 for “most likely to purchase title this holiday season.”
