Barad Gularan: fortress of the Witch-king in LoTRO
In the Lord of the Rings Online, when the Lord of the Nazgul was overpowered by the malice of the One Ring, he went into Angmar and built the great city of Carn Dum. But this was not the only place of power that he built in Angmar. There is also the fortress – known only to the Wise – known as Barad Gularan.
The fortress served as the Witch-king’s place of refuge, a place to study and find a way to break the bonds that Sauron’s ring has on him. Although the power from his own ring was great, it cannot match the One Ring. In the fortress he tried to learn the Ring’s secrets and free himself.
His plans were taken away from him when the Prince of Gondor and Glorfindel of Rivendell drove him away from Angmar. The Witch-king was forced to leave the fortress, along with all its secrets. Now, only the bravest adventurers dare go within the walls of Barad Gularan in the Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar.
