Burning Crusade guest passes: what are they for?

WoW: Burning Crusade - Image 1Warning, brain churner ahead: So you bought your own copy of Burning Crusade (maybe not at the launch, but you still managed to get a copy), and it includes a 10-day free guest pass. A guest pass to what, you ask?

Well, once you purchase a copy of the game, the pass allows you to give it away to a friend who doesn’t already have the game. But you will have to use your copy to install the client on your friend’s computer.

Alright, now we’re not done yet. The guest pass will allow your friend try WoW for 10 days. Once your friend downloads the expansion, he will not have any free play time (or trial time, whichever way you see it). So summarized:

  • The guest pass will not allow a player to play the expansion.
  • The guest pass requires that the owner of the pass use his copy of WoW to install the client in the guest’s PC.

Got it? Good. But you may also know that the game (just like before) could be downloaded from Blizzard for free and it will already include a 10-day free pass.
