According to Criterion Games, over 50,000 gamers went online to play Burnout Paradise in a period of 24 hours last March 5. Looks like Burnout Paradise (PS3, Xbox 360) is turning out to be a smashing success. The game topped the UK charts for two weeks running back when it was released, and it looks set to rip its way into the hearts of US gamers as well. Criterion Games reports that:

In the past 24 hours weÂ’ve had 50,000 people play Burnout Paradise online on both systems. If they only stayed online for one hour each on average (and most stayed for more than that), there will be have been over five and a half years of play online in Paradise City in the last 24 hours.

If you’re one of those 50,000 gamers who logged on last March 5, and you’re looking forward to even more hours of digital high octane smashing and crashing, you’ll be glad to know that the game’s first package of downloadable content is on its way.

Criterion Games has some sleek new liveries for your cars in the upcoming DLC. Even better is that they’re free of charge! No date yet on when they’ll be released though, but we’ll keep you posted. For now, take a look at some of the liveries in the upcoming DLC:
