Remember the classic bread-and-butter combinations of Street Fighter 2? If so, then you’re in for a treat. More 1-2-3s follow after the jump.

One of the questions that may be burning in your mind is: what is the combo system like in Street Fighter 4? Well, according to some field testing conducted in the Capcom offices, it should be very familiar to Street Fighter veterans.

Playtesters tried out several classic three-hit combinations using the veteran fighters in Street Fighter 4. Needless to say, these special techniques still work – with some minor differences here and there in the form of extra room for additional hits and new animations.

For example, the playtesters were able to throw in an extra low jab using the classic fierce chop-low punch-somersault kick combination for Guile. Chun-Li’s heel stomp now has new animations – she alternates between both heels instead of using the same leg all throughout.

That being the case, it’s nice to know that fans of Capcom‘s Street Fighter series may go for a stroll down memory lane anytime they wish. What’s even more exciting is that these are only the tip of the proverbial iceberg. In other words, there are other combo possibilities involving the new Street Fighter 4 features – possibilities that Capcom has yet to reveal to the gaming public.

As before, stay tuned for more updates as we get them.
