Capcom Releases Resident Evil Wii Gameplay Details

bloody hell! Resident Evil (RE) fans have a reason to celebrate as Capcom Japan revelead the first details of the new RE game for the Wii.

We are unsure up to now if this version, under the working title Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, would be the fifth game or if this would merely offer the same treats we saw from the past installments. Nonetheless, what we are sure of is that the game is split into four chapters with various characters and settings from the series.

In the first chapter, the setting is at the RE1 Mansion, where Jill and Chris stars. The next chapter transports the game to the RE2 Raccoon Police Department along with Claire and Leon. For the third, the story moves to RE3 Raccoon City with Jill and Carlos in tow. And for the fourth and last chapter, Leon and Ada returns to the RE4 Village.

What Capcom promises the fans is that this will be a very open-ended and massive title. Each character will be able to dual-wield, packing two weapons at the same time. As for the viewpoint and controls, Capcom decided to retain the preferred over-shoulder viewpoint.

Apart from the mainstay characters, further characters will also enter the picture to play in various subplots. To name a few, Rebecca Chambers, Hunk and Albert Wesker will make their appearances and take part in surviving the terror that consumes Raccoon City.

To top it all off, the whole game will be presented in in-game cutscenes, same with how it was done in Resident Evil 4. While the game spans events from all the main RE games, it does leave out Resident Evil: Code Veronica. With this installment, Capcom assures a deeper probe on the Umbrella Corporation, thus more new information. The Umbrella Chronicles also aspires to tie  RE4 to the established RE storyline.

That sounds like a lot of work. But more importantly, it sounds like this game would really be something to look forward to, with its sublime series retrospective in the works. We’ll fill you all in as soon as we squeeze out some more infos about this game. So stay tuned.
