Some MMORPG players may not like the idea of having to first obtain the approval of the powers-that-be first to conduct microtransactions. But sometimes, everyone’s got to admit that it’s necessary.

Case in point: Codemasters Online has introduced a new micropayment system and appeals system for Rising Force Online and ArchLord players. This is basically how the new microtransaction system works:

  1. Players must login to their Codemasters Online Player Account Page.
  2. Insure that your personal details are correct. If you need to edit the details, Codemasters will present a form to you for that very purpose.
  3. Click on the new button available on the subscription line. This will basically request for approval from Codemasters to make purchases.
  4. Note that if your personal details are incorrect, you may still login to either Rising Force Online or ArchLord, only you won’t be able to make micro-transaction purchases.
  5. If your request is declined, you may appeal to Codemasters’ Customer Services team via the webform here: http://www.Codemasters.co.uk/support/appeals.php.

While it does mean a bit of a delay, Codemasters nonetheless feels that an added layer of protection is necessary to safeguard legitimate players from unscrupulous folks engaging in fraudulent activity like RMT (Real Money Traders) and gold farming in-game.
