Crysis patch delayed, coming January 2008 - Image 1Crytek boss Cevat Yerli‘s previously announced ETA for the first patch to the “maximum game,” Crysis, should have resulted in a release of that much-anticipated fix. Unfortunately, it’s not here, and according to a recent update from Crytek, it’s likely to see the light of day by January next year. Find out why at the full story.

Those looking forward to the first Crysis patch, which should have released within Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli‘s two-week estimate, will be disappointed to hear that the patch has been delayed to 2008. But Crytek took the time to compile all the feedback from the growing Crysis community and churn out a full update regarding their inquiries and the patch itself.

What held the patch back were a smorgasbord of technical issues, and they arrived right when the patch was about to be “declared final.” The team took it upon themselves to sit right back down and plow through the issues immediately. Though progress is going well, the patch won’t be fit for release until January next year if no other issues arise.

Currently, the patch would resolve these issues as indicated by post-market observation and customer feedback:

Fixes

  • Damage dealt to vehicles when shot by LAW has been made consistent
  • F12 (screenshot) now works in restricted mode as well
  • When player melees during gun raise animation, their gun will not be in a permanently raised position anymore
  • Memory leaks and potential crashes

Updates

  • Improved SLI / Crossfire support and performance
  • Improved overall rendering performance (DX9 and DX10)
  • Enabled VSync functionality in D3D10

Tweaks

  • Reduced grenade explosion radius in multiplayer
  • Clamped water tessellation to avoid cheating in MP
  • Reduced LAW splash damage vs. infantry in PowerStruggle mode
  • Slowed Rocket projectile speed down in MP slightly

And those currently awaiting the development of Command & Crysis: The Dead Six mod and other much awaited modifications, CrysisSDK is currently being tuned to incorporate more functionality in its full version. But like the first patch, many aspiring modders are going to have to wait, because the kit will be coming with the second Crysis patch – ETA unknown.
