Devil May Cry 4’s Kobayashi on why Nero is introduced in the game

Nero Devil May Cry - Image 1Want to get more dirt on Capcom‘s Devil May Cry 4 (Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360, and PC)? DMC producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi sat down for an interview, and gave out some info why they introduced a new protagonist in the game, Nero, as well as a peek of some of Dante’s new moves. More info in the full article.

Devil May Cry 4 - Image 1Devil May Cry producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi sat down with Team Xbox to show off the Xbox 360 version of Devil May Cry 4‘s (by Capcom also for PlayStation 3, PC) work-in-progress demo of the game, and revealed some interesting details about the game, mostly about DMC 4 being the franchise’s Xbox 360 debut. Later, they also touched on other aspects of the game that concern the other platform releases as well.

Kobayashi said that one of the reasons why they decided to introduce a new character in DMC 4, Nero, is to make it easier for Xbox users (as well as other first-time Devil May Cry gamers) to catch up with those who already played through the first three games. He added:

We have created this game so that, if you havenÂ’t played games in the series before, you will enjoy it. First of all, the storyÂ…you can enjoy that even if you donÂ’t know the story of the other three games in the series – it wonÂ’t affect your enjoyment of this story.

Kobayashi also mentioned that Dante, the recurring protagonist in the series, will still wield his sword, his guns Ebony and Ivory, as well as a shotgun. However, he will get to use other new weapons as well, such as new martial arts moves, and a cool missile launcher.

Fans of the franchise will also be treated to a variety of enemies, most of them categorized by Kobayashi into “animal style of enemies”, “human forms of enemies” and “tens of meters tall type of enemies” (we’d like that, very much).

Devil May Cry 4 is definitely shaping up to be a great game, and we couldn’t wait for its release, which is currently dated within February 2008 for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, with the PC version to follow. More details to come!
