E3: SCEE president predicts PS3 as winner by March ’08

David Reeves, CEO of SCEE - Image 1Although doubts have been expressed by a number of major players for the PS3’s success, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president David Reeves remains positive of what’s in store for the PS3.

“PlayStation 3, you will see, will be far and away the winner when you look at it by March ’08. They really, really will,” Reeves told GamesIndustry.biz in a recent E3 interview.

Reeves believes that the Xbox 360 will not be dominating the holidays and may be confident because of the recent doubling of sales to back him up. “I honestly don’t think that just having the games on Xbox 360 is enough,” he comments on holiday sales projections.

Sony has released their lineup of exclusive games for the PS3, holding highly anticipated games like Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Heavenly Sword. However, with E3 on its last day, there’s still a lot that can happen afterward.

Reeves was also asked whether the current price for the PS3 is still high and he replies that “It is, but surprisingly, people are paying that amount of money for it. Now they’ll get two games and an extra controller as well.”
