EA eyeing Japan: more future Wii and DS games?

Electronic Arts Japan? - Image 1Looks like Electronic Arts is trying to get in on the action in Japan. It’s currently looking for a “partnership or acquisition” in the land of the Rising Sun (and sushi) to achieve more penetration into the market.

President of EA Asia, Jon Niermann, describes Japan as a “strategic priority” for the company, which is a valid enough point seeing as it’s the second largest video game market in the world, next to the U.S. Japan’s hometown heroes, the Nintendo Wii and the Nintendo DS, are also the best sellers in the country, leaving the competition well behind its wake.

Does this mean EA will be focusing on games for the Wii and the DS in the future? Most likely we’ll find out more details as the Tokyo Games Show sheds more light on the subject.
