EMI music on your PSP
For countless occasions now, a good number of big industry names have been saying that Sony PSP needs a boost. Whether it’s a new RPG title, a kick-ass application or a hardware overhaul, the PSP needs to offer something new to its users lest they get jaded. Amidst all these, U.K.’s HiFi Entertainment is now offering a solution.
“We knew that the PSP market is huge, but it needed a different platform to provide content to users,” explains Bela Molnar, managing director for the said company. Accordingly, HiFi began offering EMI content via its online store (psp-playlist.com) to help revive the format. “The quick downturn of the UMD market has left many of the big believers of the format disappointed, including us,” added Molnar.
The entire music video library of EMI Music U.K. will be made available to PSP users, with the latter able to download the files directly to their memory stick. The price of content ranges from GBP 1.89 to GBP 2.19, or roughly US$ 3.50 on the average.
EMI’s Graeme Rogan on the other hand seems hopeful about the whole thing. “This deal will give consumers of the PSP format access to videos from EMI Music UK‘s rich back catalogue, generating incremental sales for our artists,” thought the official.
