ESRB rates classic shoot ’em up Air Zonk

ESRB rates Air Zonk - Image 1The Entertainment and Software Rating Board (ESRB) just updated its list of rated video game titles and as expected, we found classic Air Zonk right there. It should be remembered that Hudson Soft already announced this title for Virtual Console Japan back in May.

Air Zonk originally appeared on the TurboGrafx-16 platform back in 1992. May believe that the title is one of the most exciting games to ever appear on the said platform mainly because of the title’s design and features.

Main character Zonk, just so you know, closely resembles the PC Engine’s mascot Bonk. Air Zonk is basically a shoot ’em up game but what really sets it apart from the other games in its era is its amusing power ups and quirky in-game bosses.

One good example is the title’s stage 2 level where Zonk has to defeat bosses “3-Floor Flying Building” who has different snakes coming out from each floor and “Bouncing Trash Bag”. Anyway, Nintendo or Hudson Soft are still yet to make an official announcement about this but as they say, ESRB doesn’t rate games for nothing.
