Everquest II: Fallen Dynasty – The Saga Begins…

eqiifdAs the date of the release of Everquest II: The Fallen Dynasty draws closer, Sony Online Entertainment has released the first chapter of the story on their website. Here’s a brief summary of the beginning of the tale:

Durago, the half-elven Qeynoshian, signed on with the Far Seas Trading Company expecting adventure and romance.

Instead, he’s found hours of steering a ship on an empty sea, watching an unchanging horizon, broken only by occasional small islands that are little more than oversized rocks.

His companion, N’Turex the Dark Elf, smirks. It’s not about adventure, he says. Its about money. “Being aboard a ship like this can be quite profitable if you manage to establish a new source of trade.”

When Durago insists the trip is pointless, N’Turex reminds him of the island they had encountered that had been inhabited before its devastation in the Shattering. Then there was the pirate ship they’d seen a few days earlier…

“I see your point about the abandoned island, but what does the pirate ship have to do with anything?” Durango asks.

“The Pirates of Gunthak are not known for taking pleasure cruises,” N’Turex reminds his companion. “If they’re in this area, it means there is something of value here. We just have to find it before they do.”

At that moment, the lookout cries from his crow’s nest above – “Land HO…island off the port bow…!

More to come…
