natalvswandJamie MacDonald knows motion control. And he should. After all, he used to be the Vice President of Sony Worldwide Studios, the company of EyeToy. In an interview with GamesIndustry, he gave out some tips and tricks for Microsoft and Sony, the two latest venturers into the land of motion control.

Foremost on the list is consumer expectation. True, the Nintendo Wii does have a major leg up in motion control, but now that Sony and MS have joined in on the fray, MacDonald warns them that gamers will be expecting more from their technology given that their hardwares are undoubtedly higher in specs than the Wii.

He then also reminded them to be careful of implementing “traditional long-form gameplay.” After all, games are for relaxation, so they shouldn’t leave their gamers “completely knackered.”

And last but not least, the issue of pricing. His suggestion was to do what they did with the EyeToy, which is to provide a bundle for it along with a game. Am thinking that’s most likely what they’ll be doing anyway, at least to kick it off. These game tie-ins, they never get old after all.
