Electronic Arts have teamed up with Namco Bandai Games Inc. to publish a game solely based to the upcoming summer feature film “The Fast and the Furious:Tokyo Drift“. Promising to immerse players to the underground yet rich world of drift racing by offering them ground-breaking drift mechanics and revolutionary gameplay systems, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift for PSP and PS2 is set to give players the most accessible yet realistic drift game ever.

Here’s a list of the features that, according to the creators, will give us the realistic pleasure and thrill of racing (minus the actual hazards, not to mention the fuel cost):

Revolutionary Drift Model – A drift model system that is billed to be both fun and approachable for players of all skill levels, having the option to turn on the assists and race a la Vin Diesel (act like him at least), or turn them off and hone your drift skills.

Fast and Furiois ArtAn entirely authentic Drift racing experience – Utilizing Universal’s extensive sound library, an incredible context based camera code, a revolutionary context based rumble system that gives players the feeling of driving city streets at break neck speeds are just some of the factors that they say will set this game apart from other race-themed titles.

Total Immersion – Immerse yourself in the world of the game patterned to the setting of the film’s plot. 10,000+ polygon model cars, cinematic camera angles straight from the movie, unique boss challenges, stunning visuals and an Advanced Rubber Band AI system makes this a very promising title indeed.

Robust customization options – Enhance the feeling of being part of the underground street racing world. Play like MTV and pimp your ride with a hundred licensed wheels and over 500 body kits from real JDM companies. Tune your ride like never before from performance to appearance.

Currently being geared up by Eutechnyx, the game will also boast of 1-2 player split-screen play and 1-4 player online play. It is slated for a late summer release in PAL territories. A game based on a film carrying the adjectives “fast” and “furious” in its title, may have a lot to live up to. It has proven itself to be “fast”, but will it be “furious” come it’s release? We’ll find out.
