Heads up, importers and Final Fantasy fanatics alike. Turns out that YouTube ad announcing the Japanese release date of Final Fantasy XIII (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3) we saw yesterday was right on the money.

The date — December 17, 2009 — was just confirmed by Square Enix president Yoichi Wada during the Final Fantasy XIII Premiere Party earlier today at the National Museum of Science and Innovation in Odaiba. Price has been set at JPÂ¥ 9,240 (roughly US$ 100) including tax.

Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Kaz Hirai was also at the event, where he announced a Final Fantasy XIII bundle for the PS3. No word yet on whether or not this is Japan-only, but Hirai did say that they’ll be releasing more details soon.

The game’s international release date remains murky though, as the only thing Wada said about it is that they’re “aiming for an international release this Spring.” Note that Wada said “international”, so there’s still a chance for simultaneous — or close to simultaneous — US and Euro launches.
