Final Smash Bros. Update?
QJ has been keeping you all abreast of Super Smash Bros Brawl developments for quite some time now, but it looks like this might just be one of the final updates for a while. Masahiro Sakurai responded to the wife of the author of the very first e-mail he responded to regarding Brawl. In it, he explains that the polls are now closed and that he’s sorry for all the ideas people wanted that won’t be implemented. He ended by saying “We will create this game with balance in mind.” However, before that, he did some updates I wasn’t able to post up right away.
Although a Snake version of Kirby was obvious, Sakurai confirms it with this line “I guess I have no choice but to make a Snake copy, too. Should it be a bandana? Or perhaps a beard?” Check out this awesome drawing (right) I found. Props to the artist!
Link will not have a catchphrase (like “Mission Complete” and “Come On!” for Fox in SSBM). He thinks a Link that talks would be odd.
Sakurai responded with the following when asked about secret characters,
“Well… that is a tough question. As long as the internet exists, all secrets will be revealed quickly. Sometimes even before the game comes out, even. Secret characters are one of the fun parts of Smash. Although you don’t want to find out until the very end, I guess [literally: ‘after all,’ so there is no doubt in this statement] I’ll reveal them. Again, just like “Smash fist” [literally: ‘Sumabura ken,’ the name of the Japanese SSBM site?] I can’t just hold these characters back. “
Although no words on exactly what the original cast will be was said, he did say that it would be fitting for Snake to be a hidden character because he was a guest. So don’t expect Snake to be on the starting roster.
SamuraiPanda, the one who’s been translating all the wonderful information for all of us also gave an update on the Japanese site’s front page:
“The frontpage now elaborates slightly on the comment he had before. He does confirm that someday in 2007, they will release alot more info, but for now they are going to go quiet. However, if there is anything important to tell us before then, they may slip in an update.”
Sayonara, sweet Smash info.
