The newest issue of Famitsu has a two-page preview of Harvest Moon for the Wii. While the graphics are a slim improvement compared to the GameCube‘s version of the farming game, the possibilities for new controls are what developer Natsume is really focusing on.

The article states that for each of the different activities in the game, you’ll move the Wiimote in the respective motions. So for example, when you want to water your seeds and plants, you tilt the Wiimote down, like you would do with a watering pot. Interacting with animals is supposed to work in a similar way. The buttons will be used, too – tools can be organized and cycled through using the d-pad, while the A button is used to activate events like talking.

The story of Harvest Moon Wii once again revolve around the Koropokuru, the little helper creatures prevalent in every Harvest Moon game. The player will run a farm on an island in order to revive a great tree that has gone dry. Building relationships with the local townsfolk will be crucial for success as well.

Harvest Moon Wii has no release date yet, though with the previews dropping in, an announcement might follow soon.
