Fly High With City of Heroes/Villains Issue 8

City of Heroes

So you think MMO=stuff found on J.R.R. Tolkien’s books? Think again. City of Heroes by Cryptic Studios and NCSoft is one game that takes an interesting slant on the seemingly fantasy-ridden MMO world by introducing good old crime-fighting superheroes clashing against villain wannabes hell-bent on world domination (whew!). First released April of 2004, the said game drew quite a large audience, and so did its sequel, City of Villains which came out a year after.

But what does Cryptic have in store for fans who have followed both games closely? Well, according to dev Matthew Miller, if you’re playing the game, you’d be delighted to know that the upcoming “Issue 8” update will feature more contacts and missions. There’s going to be what they call a “police band mission” for the heroes, where your good-hearted characters save the innocent citizens of Paragon City and put a halt to crimes that are about to take place.

Of course, there’s also a special “for-villains-only” mayhem missions where (you guessed it) villains get to spread chaos in Paragon City. And for more villains versus heroes action, PvP battles will also be featured in Issue 8, so that’s something to look forward to. Also, “veteran rewards” (read: TREATS) will be given to well, veteran players. New rewards will be given each month, so you might want to spend more quality-time with either City of Heroes or City of Villains.

Of course, Cryptic Studios may still have a few surprises up their sleeve, so you might want to stick around for more updates. And while waiting, maybe you may want to get your City of Heroes character a costume facelift.
