Fun fun fun Dragon Quest Swords screens and info

You wouldn’t believe what we just found floating around Famitsu‘s site (with hilarious Engrish, if I might add), all-new screens for Square Enix‘s upcoming RPG, Dragon Quest Swords.

In addition to 10 new screens, Famitsu also shared a few info on the shield defense system and how you’ll be able to level up the characters in the game. Now you must understand that we’re dealing with Engrish here so pardon us if they come off a bit…uncanny. Say, as uncanny as saying, “Offense and defense of bodily sensation! Fighting, it is accustomed strongly!!” (their words, not ours). Oh dear…*wipes tears of laughter*

So ANYWAY, Famitsu reports that the method attacks will differ depending on the enemy. The shield will show up on the screen and usually follow the specific target of your enemy’s attack (i.e. body part, etc.). When the shield isn’t enough to soften your enemy’s blow, or is damaged in the process, the screen will also show the part of your shield that’s been broken. The Wiimote will vibrate every time you fail to effectively shield yourself from an attack.

The system of levelling up in Dragon Quest Swords is the same as that of the other titles from the series. You level up every time you manage to inflict damage to your enemy, and this will be indicated by the bars that’ll appear on the screen. You’ll also be able to level up even in the midst of a battle. Now that’s just about all the info my non-Engrish-deciphering brain could churn out, but if you’re adept at understanding Japanese, feel free to take a crack at it by clicking on the link below. Meanwhile, here are the screens. Enjoy!
