Gravity secures license to create Ice Age MMORPG

Gravity Co. Ltd, the creators of Ragnarok Online, has signed a seven-year deal with 20th Century FOX Licensing and Merchandising for the worldwide rights to create MMORPG based on 20th Century FOX‘s Ice Age movie.

Gravity Co. Ltd, the creators of Ragnarok Online and Rose Online, has secured the exclusive seven-year worldwide rights to create an MMORPG based on 20th Century Fox‘s Ice Age movie series called Ice Age Online.

The game is slated for the third quarter of 2009 and is said to contain some elements of both the first Ice Age movie and its sequel, Ice Age: The Meltdown. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Gravity Il-Young Ryu spoke about the game, saying:

We are thrilled to be embarking on this Ice Age project. Fox is one of the worldÂ’s most renowned entertainment companies and weÂ’re excited to develop an online game based on one of its leading intellectual properties.

It is our aim to produce a great online game that will meet the expectations of all game users and Ice Age fans throughout the world. In addition, Gravity has been pursuing detailed discussions with Fox to publish additional online game titles in the future.

So far, no details have been revealed about how the game is expected to play. Considering that the Ice Age series is geared towards a younger audience, it might be safe to assume that this MMORPG will be as well.
