GTA IV details surface in Game Informer magazine May issue

Game Informer features GTA IV - Image 1You read that one right: we’ve found some new details about the Rockstar North-developed game, Grand Theft Auto IV (Xbox 360 and PS3) over at GTA4.net. They’ve uncovered information from the Game Informer magazine’s May issue that had a 10-page GTA IV world exclusive preview, and we’re telling you, that issue revealed a lot of stuff about this highly anticipated game. Game Informer was able to play only the Xbox 360 version of the game though.

One of the most trivial things about GTA IV (as featured in the video released just a few weeks ago) is the protagonist (yup, the guy in the video). GI has an answer for that: the guy’s name is Nikko Bellic, and he’s believed to be either of Serbian or Croatian descent.

As for the gameplay, Rockstar decided to give players more freedom, more choices, and more control over what happens in the game. You can choose what you want to do in the game – like hang out with someone since that person always has something up his sleeve or always has something to do – but you’re still going to take orders during missions.

Another feature in the game is your ability to call your contacts using a cellphone. It’s also been said that the storyline’s structure of GTA IV will be relatively different from the previous games. There will be no planes in this one because there’s only going to be one city. Multiplayer mode is also set to be announced in the future.

The details known so far are very general, and given that these are only for the 360 version, we can expect a lot more details to emerge soon as we get the complete review from GI and from the Official PlayStation Magazine (OPM) which will also be featuring Grand Theft Auto IV soon.
