Hori to release 160 GB PS3 HDD in August

Hori's HDD - Image 1Talk about huge. Thanks to a news item on Kotaku, we got word that game peripheral manufacturer Hori is planning to release a 160 GB HDD PS3 hard drive this August. According to the specs they’ve put up over at ITmedia, the hard drive connects to the PlayStation 3 using USB and runs at a fast 5400 rpm.

That’s definitely a lot of added power for the game machine, but how much will it cost? If you have a pretty hefty wallet and feel like emptying the contents of the thing, get ready to shell out 29,140 yen (US$ 240) for the addon.

There’s certainly a lot of uses we can see for this thing, especially if you’re planning to use your PS3 as a secondary Linux supercomputer of some sort. In any case, expect it to come out on August 2.
