IGN Interviews Perrin Kaplan About Nintendo Wii

Perrin Kaplan, Nintendo of America VP of Corporate Affairs, gave IGN a bit of her time today following the Nintendo Wii announcement earlier. A little bit of “What the hell were they thinking?” regarding the Revolution’s ‘new’ name has been cleared up, but not really. Kaplan reiterated what was found on Nintendo’s main website, then talked about other companies who have had controversial names like “Virgin” and “Yahoo.” She also noted that Nintendo employees have in fact seen all your beautiful fan art, and they are indeed laughing about them. Also, it looks like the DS and Wii will both see an equal share of the limelight at Nintendo’s Press Conference on May 9th.

For those who still hate the name, she had little comfort to offer.

IGN Wii: Some fans have already started petitions in hopes of somehow convincing Nintendo to change the name. Any message for these people?
Perrin Kaplan: Live with it, sleep with it, eat with it, move along with it and hopefully they’ll arrive at the same place.
