Insomniac Games responds to Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction HDTV issue

Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction - Image 1Since Insomniac GamesRatchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction came out on the PlayStation Network, there have been reports of some players witnessing HDTV-related issues, the most recent of which concerns a 52-inch Sony Bravia. This prompted a response from Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction developers from Insomniac Games.

Much has been said about the bottom right portion of Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction‘s display. Apparently, this portion tends to show a whop of pixelated animation when playing at 1080p resolution. Insomniac Games acknowledges the reports and asks for TV models which exhibit this type of issue. The dev states:

We believe the lower right corner garbling issue appears to only be happening with 1080i/p output forced and with no-overscan. The vast majority of people shouldn’t experience it, and we highly recommend ensuring your PS3 has 720p output enabled as RCF will look best at that resolution and it should correct the issue.

If you’re having the strange pixelation issues, we want to try to replicate that here. We’ve never seen it in-house on all of our various HD sets, and knowing what TVs we need to track down would be helpful.
