Konami shoot ’em ups make comebacks on PSP

First Twinbee screenshot!!

So does the concept of bell-shaped power-ups in clouds sound familiar to you? Well if it does, then we have some good news, as Konami has announced the release of Twinbee Portable, a compilation of the Twinbee series. This compilation will include the original 1985 Twinbee game, Detana!! Twinbee, Pop’n Twinbee, Twinbee Yahho!, and Twinbee DA!

For those not familiar with the title, Twinbee is an arcade vertical shooter which was very popular in Japan. Sadly though, it  didn’t quite catch on as well in the U.S. and Europe.

On top of that, there will also be compilations for Salamander (a spacecraft shooter), and Parodius: Tako wa Chikyu o Suku (or Parodius: The Octopus saves the Earth). These compilations would be on Japanese shelves around January 25 (though it was previously reported to be released on January 1). PSP skins for the said compilations have also been released in an attempt to build up hype for the compilations’ release. While we wait for further announcements, here’s the lone screenshot released for Twinbee.
