Konami unveils Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2008

It’s time to duel! Konami has announced the upcoming release of a new Yu-Gi-Oh! game for Nintendo DS handhelds, called Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2008 and it promises to be one big card battling brawl!

Imagine 2000 of the world’s most powerful cards in one game, ready for you to collect and use against your opponents. That’s the kind of intense card battling action we’re talking about.

Grab your cards, ladies and gentlemen. As one year comes to a close, yet another year fills us all with hope… and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. Konami has announced the latest iteration to their Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship series with Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2008, which is set to be released in March.

Konami has put a wrinkle in the old formula set for the game, with the addition of some new features. First off is the new single player Duel World Mode, a new environment where players can experience the storyline of the Yu-Gi-Oh! universe.

For those who have the fighting spirit, you can also engage other card battlers in a tag duel mode for up to four players using the local wireless and WiFI capabilities of the DS, as well as engage in some healthy taunting using the voice chat feature.

Of course, no Yu-Gi-Oh! game is complete without real cards, and to that end, Konami is also packing three special cards for use in the real-life TCG.
