Korea wants to rate iPhone games
Apple’s iPhone launched some three weeks ago in Korea, and 150,000 new owners now clutch it tight and proud in their hands. But along with the arrival of this mobile marvel from Apple also comes downloadable games via the App Store. According to Korean law, all games must be approved by the country’s Game Rating Board. Apple, so it seems, has yet to comply.

See, it appears that Apple might have found a loophole to this issue. The Korean version of the App Store does not have a Game cateogry, but games continue to be available over at the Entertainment category, or from other countries’ App Stores.
An official of the Rating Board disclosed to The Korea Herald, “We asked Apple to open its games category and get its games rated, but Apple shows no signs of doing so.” So far, there are 30 unapproved games out and about on Korean iPhones, with seven of them being unauthorized.
Apple is sure to feel the pressure mount as more Korean citizens get on board the iPhone wagon. They have declined to comment on the issue thus far, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated on this as soon as we get a statement. It sure would be interesting to see, though, what could happen if Apple refuses to get their App Store games rated by the government board.
