Logitec Shock Resistant HDD Cases Lessen Gravity-Related Damages

Our sweet but klutzy granny used to asked our gramps when farmers will come up with unbreakable chicken eggs everytime she whipped up accidental scrambled eggs. She never lived to see the day when chicken eggs bounce off the floor like pingpong balls. But we did see something that reminded us of that story – the Logitec LHD-PW40U2 shock resistant HDD cases from Logitec (not Logitech).

According to its makers, the shock resistant cases for portable HDDs (up to 40GB) can be dropped from up to 19.5 inches on a plywood surface (that’s what they used for the product testing) without any damage to the HD. When dropped from an elevation higher than 19.5 inches (say, 20 inches) on a non-plywood surface the case crumples like an empty beer can in the hands of a Kennedy. Just kidding! This product does offer some protection from accidents. But as grampa used to tell granny,  “The best way to stop a dropped egg from breaking is to not drop it.” Can’t argue with that logic.
