LotRO’s Executive Producer on Evendim, features and more

LotRO's Executive Producer on Evendim, Features and more - Image 1The popularity of CodemastersThe Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar has been growing consistently with a pretty large established consumer base. The Warcry network was able to interview Executive producer of LotRO Jeffrey Steefel, and quite a few little details came to light.

The addition of Evendim to the game is looming, with reports saying that it will be coming out this month. This area for players with characters level 27 or higher brings new quests such as reforging Aragorn’s sword. Steefel gave a little insight on what they were thinking when they were developing it.

We really took an approach that we wanted this to look like no other place in Middle-earth that we’ve built so far. The update introduces the new lands of Arnor, an abandoned area that is a focal point of Middle-earth’s history, but also not overly described in the books. It gave us an opportunity to be creative with the look and feel of the place.

Another thing he discussed was one of the highlighted features of the game – fellowship maneuvers. He gave word that they are very careful in handling it considering that it can easily become a problem to most players. Most of the stuff is content driven he disclosed, so while new moves will definitely be added, they have no plans of tweaking or expanding the system as a whole.

To end, he mentioned a feature they will be adding that most LotRO players have been clamoring for: in-game Housing. Steefel gave word that we should expect them to start going over this before the end of the year. That’s very exciting news to those who have been waiting for a chance to actually “live” in Middle Earth. There were more things discussed in the lengthy interview, if you want to read it, feel free to click on the read link below.
