Have you noticed the curious absence of Johnny Cage, Goro and Aquaman from the latest Mortal Kombat game? Have they retired? Are they sucking back mai-tais somewhere in the Bora Bora? Did they decide to sit this game out in protest over the whole notion of a MK-DC crossover?

No, apparently they’ve simply “vanished from existence.”

This was conveniently explained in the comic book that comes with the US$ 70 collector’s edition of Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe (Xbox 360, PS3). Shown in the comic book panel below, Dark Khan narrates what happened when he brought the MK and DC universes into collision:
