Video – Tom Clancy’s EndWar Interview

Ubisoft‘s Creative Director Michael Deplatter recently sat down in an interview to talk about the latest title to sport the Tom Clancy name – namely Tom Clancy’s EndWar. Is it more of the same, or is it drastically different to suit today’s next-gen market? We’re here to give you the skinny on all things EndWar-y.

To answer all that and more, we fortunately found this uploaded video by Xboxygen from Daily Motion. To find out what’s in store for you, read on and then click play.

Rather than just another Rainbow Six or another Splinter Cell, EndWar is, as we’ve previously discovered, an RTS – promising to deliver the scale of an actual World War 3 onto the console market, namely the Xbox 360 and the PS3. Michael Deplatter explained that the decision to go into RTS was based on the fact that Splinter Cell broke into an entirely new genre for Microsoft‘s console, and Ubisoft hopes to replicate that with EndWar.

For those curious about the game being multiplayer friendly, you’ll be glad to know that Ubisoft has some pretty big ideas for EndWar‘s multiplayer capabilities. Not only will you able to play co-op, but there’s also a massive MMO system integrated into game. This means that instead of the war being fought, say, on a game-to-game basis, it’s actually going to be a collaborative war effort between players worldwide. Every win would result in your side advancing, every defeat would mean a hasty retreat or so on.

It’s certainly a good move for the Tom Clancy series, to finally move to something bigger than just a squad. We’ll be here to update you as developments take place, so watch this space. In the meantime, check out the video (and the sweet CGI)!
